The Records and Information Center in customer service houses all the filings of the IUB. You may examine public records of the IUB during the regular business hours, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding official state holidays. Requests for available information also may be submitted in writing. Such a request must comply with requirements found in 199 Iowa Administrative Code (IAC) 1.9(7)b.
Unless otherwise provided by law, all public records, other than confidential records, maintained by the IUB shall be made available for public inspection.
The Iowa Utilities Board is located at 1375 E. Court Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. Visitor parking is available in the lots to the west and south of the building. Public entrance to the building is on the west side. The Records and Information Center is in the north wing.
In 2009 the IUB implemented an electronic filing system (EFS) for filings and documents. Public documents filed in new dockets after that date are available for viewing and downloading from EFS.
