The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) issued an order today rescheduling the public evidentiary hearing for MidAmerican Energy’s proposed natural gas customer rate increase in Docket No. RPU-2023-0001. The IUB’s hearing was previously scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

MidAmerican filed a motion today for suspension of the procedural schedule based on a non-unanimous settlement agreement reached between MidAmerican and the Office of Consumer Advocate, a division of the Iowa Department of Justice, on the revenue requirement in this rate case. In order to have adequate time to review the proposed settlement, the IUB granted MidAmerican’s motion and has rescheduled the public hearing for the presentation of evidence and cross-examination of witnesses to begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, in the IUB Hearing Room, 1375 E. Court Ave., Des Moines.

MidAmerican filed its application on June 12, 2023, seeking IUB approval to revise rates in conjunction with an increase of its annual revenues under Iowa Code section 476.6 and the IUB’s administrative rules at 199 Iowa Administrative Code chapter 26. MidAmerican’s proposed rate increase is pending before the IUB in Docket No. RPU-2023-0001.

Persons with disabilities requiring assistive services or devices to observe or participate in the hearing should contact the IUB at 515-725-7300 or customer@iub.iowa.gov at least five days in advance of the scheduled date to request appropriate arrangements.

Written comments can be filed in this rate case by completing and submitting the IUB’s online comment form, by email to customer@iub.iowa.gov, or by postal mail to the Iowa Utilities Board, Docket No. RPU-2023-0001, 1375 E. Court Ave., Des Moines, IA 50319-0069.

All publicly filed documents for this rate case are available for review in the IUB’s electronic filing system under Docket No. RPU-2023-0001.
