IUB Virtual Events Schedule and Registration Instructions
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the IUB has created virtual registration instructions intended for parties to an IUB proceeding or meeting, and for participants who plan to speak or present at an IUB scheduled event. Anyone wishing to observe only may access the proceeding or meeting via the IUB's video livestreaming events calendar. Electronic meetings are conducted pursuant to Iowa Code section 21.8, and the IUB may use a webinar for public proceedings where attendance in person is not possible or practical for parties who wish to participate.
NOTE: For COVID-19 safety reasons, the IUB will require that persons wishing to attend in-person for any IUB hearing, meeting, or other proceeding, maintain six-foot social distancing with anyone outside their immediate family and wear masks or face shields. Masks, disinfectants, and gloves will be available.

Registering for Virtual Events
The attendee link to register for a webinar or web seminar for any IUB proceeding will be included in the event listing on the IUB's Hearing and Meeting Calendar page. Webinar or web seminar participants should register at least 24 hours in advance if possible. Upon registration attendees will receive an email containing the link to the webinar/web seminar and other detailed information.
The IUB will use either GoToWebinar or Webex to host its virtual meetings. If you have not used the meeting platform prior to attending an IUB virtual meeting, you are encouraged to download the appropriate client applications for your device from the internet before the meeting from the following websites:
- GoToWebinar - https://support.goto.com/webinar/help/download-now-g2w010002
- Cisco Webex - https://www.webex.com/downloads.html
The IUB prefers participants register using your first and last name, followed by your company's name or commonly used acronym, for ease of identification. Example: Don Tormey - IUB (Last name field would be entered as "Tormey - IUB")
Audio
If using your computer audio option, please use an audio headset or use the phone dial-in option. Don't attempt to use your device microphone and speakers at the same time as it may cause feedback or pick up ambient sound that will affect the ability of everyone on the webinar to clearly hear the presenter.
Please keep yourself muted unless spaking; if the Board Members cannot hear you, they will indicate that you are muted and ask you to turn on your microphone.
Visual
If a witness is providing testimony in an evidentiary hearing, it is required that the witness use a webcam to allow the Board and parties to view the witness during testimony.
Make sure the computer camera is uncovered and the witness is sitting in front of the camera and can be seen clearly. A wall or closed background is best. Avoid windows or direct light in the background.
Additional Information
If you are a party to an IUB proceeding, IUB technical staff will "promote" you from an attendee to a panelist after you have joined the virtual meeting. Panelists will be able to control their own microphone and camera. At the time you are promoted, IUB technical staff will do a microphone and camera check to make sure you are connected properly. To allow time for this audio/video check, please join the virtual meeting at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
