Hearing Dates Set for Compliance Filings on Alliant Energy's AMI Meter Proposals

The Iowa Utilities Board issued an order June 24, 2019, that set hearing dates of August 22 and 23 to receive testimony and cross-examine witnesses in relation to Alliant Energy's compliance filings on standard and community opt-outs for its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) meter program. The order, filed in Docket No. SPU-2018-0007, also denied requests for reconsideration of the February 6 final order and decision, denied requests for formal complaint proceedings in dockets C-2018-0006 and C-2018-0007, and denied a motion to reopen the record. In addition, the order addressed motions regarding meter testing and for making certain information public. 

In the February 6 order, the IUB addressed Alliant's request to charge customers a monthly fee for choosing to opt out of the company’s AMI program. The decision rejected the proposed electric and natural gas tariffs requested by Alliant and required the company to file revised tariffs for IUB review and approval. 

A procedural schedule for the August 22 and 23 hearings, which begin at 9 a.m. each day in the IUB Hearing Room, 1375 E. Court Ave. in Des Moines, may be viewed with the order. The hearings will address issues related to IPL's compliance filings, including the issue of AMI meters being set to pulse once per month, standard and community opt-out tariffs, IPL's updated privacy policy, and the proposed customer notice to be sent to eligible customers.
