(Des Moines) – Iowa Utilities Board Member Nick Wagner was recently selected to serve as the next President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, an organization representing state public service commissions who regulate essential utility services.

In this role, Wagner will focus on ensuring NARUC is meeting the needs of its members and is providing the leadership necessary in an evolving utility industry. Wagner will be officially elected as the President of NARUC at their next annual meeting held in November.

The election for the position was held during the Mid-America Regulatory Conference Annual Meeting in Kansas City to fill a vacancy originally created by the departure of the previous First Vice President of NARUC. At the same meeting, Wagner was also elected to serve as president of MARC, the regional organization of utility commissions representing 14 states of which Iowa is a member. He has previously served as Vice President of MARC.

Board Member Wagner has served on the Iowa Utilities Board since 2013, is a member of the Board of Directors of NARUC, serves as co-vice chair of the NARUC Committee on Critical Infrastructure, serves on the NARUC Committee on Gas, serves as co-chair of the NARUC Washington Action Program, and is also the treasurer of the National Council on Electric Policy.

Board Member Wagner said, “I am honored to have been selected to serve as the next President of NARUC. I look forward to steadfastly working on behalf of the entire organization in advancing the interests of our members.”

Iowa Utilities Board Chair Geri Huser said, “Board Member Wagner’s selection to serve as the next President of NARUC is a testament to the respect that he has earned among utility commission peers at the national level. His diligence, experience, and leadership will serve NARUC well, in addition to his ongoing contributions to the Iowa Utilities Board.”

Iowa Utilities Board Member Richard Lozier said, “I am very pleased with the election of Board Member Wagner to serve as the next President of NARUC. I appreciate his hard work ethic and expertise on utility industry issues.”
