The Board held a workshop on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, for the purpose of discussing comments and information received in Docket INU-2017-0001, an investigation into Iowa One Call requirements. The Board will take all the workshop information and other filings in this docket into consideration before issuing an order outlining next steps.

The Board issued an order opening an inquiry on Dec. 8, 2017, regarding Iowa One Call programs and to gather information to help increase the programs effectiveness regarding locating and digging near underground utilities. Public comments are now being accepted.

The goal of the Board's investigation will be to establish best practices for locating natural gas pipeline facilities and other underground utilities, identify areas of potential improvement in the Iowa program, inform all persons involved in locating and digging around underground facilities about best practices, and educate the public on the dangers of digging and measures that can reduce or eliminate those dangers.
