Iowa One Call Inquiry

Yellow flag marker for buried natural gas line

On Dec. 8, 2017, the Iowa Utilities Board issued an order opening an inquiry regarding Iowa One Call programs and to gather information from utilities, industry stakeholders, and the public, to help increase the effectiveness of programs related to the locating and digging near underground utilities. Public comments are now being accepted.

The goal of the Board's investigation will be to establish best practices for locating natural gas pipeline facilities and other underground utilities, identify areas of potential improvement in the Iowa program, inform all persons involved in locating and digging around underground facilities about best practices, and educate the public on the dangers of digging and measures that can reduce or eliminate those dangers.
