On February 3, 2017, the Board issued an order requiring Interstate Power & Light Company and MidAmerican Energy Company to revise their proposed net metering tariffs (Docket Nos. TF-2016-0321 and TF-2016-0323). The utilities filed revised tariffs on February 17, 2017. The Board is currently reviewing the revised tariffs, in addition to the recent motions filed for rehearing and clarification on the Board's February 3, 2017, order.
On September 27, 2016, the Board issued an order docketing the new net metering (distributed generation) tariffs filed on August 31, 2016, by Interstate Power & Light Company and MidAmerican Energy in Docket Nos. TF-2016-0321 and TF-2016-0323. The Board ordered further review and asked that comments on the proposed tariffs be filed on or before October 21, 2016. The utilities may file responses to the comments on or before November 18, 2016.
On July 19, 2016, the Iowa Utilities Board issued an order directing Iowa’s two largest investor-owned utilities to file the new net metering tariffs to help the Board establish policies to expand renewable energy opportunities in Iowa, while balancing the best interests of customers and the utilities.
On July 22, 2016, the Board issued an “order commencing rule making” as part of a comprehensive review of its administrative rules in accordance with Iowa Code § 17A.7(2). The review of the Board’s Electric Interconnection of Distributed Generation Facilities rules, 199 IAC chapter 45, has been docketed as Docket No. RMU-2016-0003. The comprehensive review of 199 IAC chapter 45 also incorporates stakeholder input arising out of Docket No. NOI-2014-0001, regarding distributed generation, and to incorporate recently adopted Iowa Code § 476.58. Comments filed are being reviewed by Board staff.
